  • What is Pilates? I'm new, where should I begin?
Pilates is an exercise form developed by Joseph Pilates that is focused on the midbody connection, with attention to the "powerhouse/core", muscular control, alignment/posture, breathing, coordination and balance.
We recommend starting with a private session to assess your limitations, form and introduce you to the Pilates equipment. Your first private session can help determine your goals, determine any modifications needed for injuries and provide feedback if you are ready for a group class. Although, you can certainly jump straight into a group class if you feel physically confident and do not have any injuries/limitations. Please allow at least 5 mins prior to the start of class to find the space and to get introduced to the equipment if this is your first reformer class without a private session to start.

  • What is the difference between contemporary and classical Pilates?
Contemporary Pilates is still based on Joseph Pilates’s classical foundational work but updated with modern evidence-based research. There are many variations of exercises in order to accommodate injury rehabilitation and maintain focus on proper biomechanics.

  • Do you offer mat Pilates classes?
We do not currently but are open to creating a Mat Pilates class with or without props if there is interest, please contact to show interest!

  • What if I have an injury, I'm worried about during classes?
We recommend starting with a private session to assess your limitations, form and introduce you to the Pilates equipment. Your first private session can help set your goals, determine any modifications needed and provide feedback if you are ready for a group class.

  • What should I bring and wear to classes and sessions?
Clothing you can move in! Grip socks are HIGHLY recommended (and sold in the studio) for classes to help stabilize you on the equipment, regular socks will also be adequate. Not recommended to have barefeet for sanitary purposes. Sneakers are not needed for class and will be removed at the door.

  • How long are sessions?
Group classes and privates are 50 mins with the option for 30 min private sessions. Please wait outside in hallway at the bench or enter through Sports and Spinal Wellness and use waiting room if you are early to class. If the hallway door is closed, there is a session in progress, please do not enter.  Public bathrooms are located down the hallway. Thank you!

  • Do you accept health insurance?
We DO NOT accept insurance; however we can accept HSA/FSA cards, credit, debit, cash, check or Venmo, and also have the capability of providing a superbill (upon request only) to submit to your insurance company if you have out-of-network benefits.

  • Do I need a script for a PT evaluation?
Through NYS direct access, you do not need a script to be seen by a cash-based PT. If you just had surgery or an acute injury, script may be needed/requested prior to eval. If seen longer than 30 days or 10 visits, we may need to obtain a script.

  • What if I'm on the waitlist?
If you joined the waitlist, you will receive an email/text notifying you. You will have one hour to accept the class booking, then it will go to the next in line or open to the public.

  • Do you have a cancelation policy?
We require 12 hour notice for cancelation of any group class and 24 hour cancelation for private Pilates/PT session. If the session is cancelled inside this  window, it will still be deducted in full of your account and/or PT session will be charged in full. We also require clients to be on time to all classes/appointments, the door will be locked after 15 mins into classes. We also do not give refunds for services or unused classes out of the expiration date of 6 months. If you have an emergency please reach out via email, text or call.
